Asymptomatic Mitral Regurgitation Caused by an Isolated Mitral Leaflet Cleft in a Young Adult: A Case Report

چکیده

We report the case of an 18-year-old young man without previous medical history, who was referred for evaluation asymptomatic cardiac murmur. Physical examination found holosystolic 4-5/6 apical murmur with normal ECG. Bidimensionnal (2D) echocardiography revealed severe mitral regurgitation thin leaflets. Three dimensional (3D) Echocardiography done better assessment valve mechanism isolated leaflet cleft, signs endocarditis or traumatic lesion. Regarding absence symptoms and excellent maximal exercise tolerance at stress echocardiography, a repair surgery wasn’t offered. Isolated cleft is rare congenital anomaly, in adults, may be incidental finding that remains years when leak well tolerated. 2D combined 3D key diagnosis guidance.

An isolated anterior mitral leaflet cleft: a case report

INTRODUCTION The anterior mitral leaflet cleft is an unusual congenital lesion most often encountered in association with other congenital heart defects. The isolated anterior leaflet cleft is quite a rare anomaly and is usually cause of mitral valve regurgitation. The importance of the lesion is that it is often correctable. When feasible, cleft suture and, eventually, annuloplasty are prefera...

Isolated cleft posterior mitral valve leaflet: an uncommon cause of mitral regurgitation.

A 53-year-old woman with a history of hypertension was referred for an echocardiogram by her primary care physician after an unspecified abnormal ECG. The echocardiogram showed normal left ventricular size and function; however, an isolated cleft posterior mitral valve leaflet was identified with concomitant bileaflet prolapse and mild mitral regurgitation. She was subsequently referred to a ca...

Rheumatoid Nodule Causing Perforation of Anterior Mitral Leaflet and Severe Mitral Regurgitation: A Rare Case Report

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic disorder that is chronic in nature and difficult to treat. RA presents in many variants. Here we present an interesting case only seldom described before. Our patient presented to emergency room with acute shortness of breath and was seen to have acute pulmonary edema. Patient later had urgent echocardiography which revealed severe mitral regurgitation fr...

Severe mitral regurgitation due to mitral leaflet aneurysm diagnosed by three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography: a case report

BACKGROUND A small mitral valve aneurysm (MVA) presenting as severe mitral regurgitation (MR) is uncommon. CASE PRESENTATION A 47-year-old man with a history of hypertension complained of exertional chest discomfort. A transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE) revealed the presence of MR and prolapse of the posterior leaflet. A 6-mm in diameter MVA, not clearly visualized by TTE, was detected on the...
